iAte automatically monitors Twitter to discover tweets about restaurants. iAte attempts to import any tweet by any user that mentions a restaurant. Behind the scenes a natural language processing
system analyzes every tweet mentioning food from any user on Twitter. The system attempts to determine whether a restaurant is mentioned in the tweet, and finds the specific restaurant that was mentioned.
By matching a tweet with a restaurant, iAte makes it easy to see all the tweets that are about a specific restaurant.
Twitter users can also tell iAte to import a tweet to their iAte profile by mentioning @iAte in their tweet. Even if iAte can not identify the restaurant, the tweet will automatically be added to the users eating history. If the restaurant is not automatically matched, the user also has the ability to manually match the tweet to a restaurant.
iAte makes it easy to share what you eat by letting you use Twitter to share what you eat. You can use your favorite Twitter client you already have on your computer or phone. To share what you're eating or just ate, send a tweet to @iAte. For example: "@iAte i'm never again getting the Smoked Salmon at Dave's Bistro #fail" You can actually mention @iAte anywhere in your tweet and it will be automatically imported into your iAte eating history. If you start your tweet with @iAte, only your followers who also follow @iAte will see it in their stream. You can also share photos using yfrog and twitpic and they will be automatically imported. iAte will try to automatically match your tweet to the correct restaurant. If iAte can not make a match, you will have a chance to assign the correct restaurant on iAte.com.
Many people might want to save their eating history, but are afraid of annoying their followers if they tweet every restaurant meal they eat. iAte solves this problem easily by letting your tweet directly to @iAte with your eats. For example let's say you tweet "@iAte loved the sausage pizza at Ken's Artisan Pizza #great". Because your started your tweet with @iAte, only your followers who also follow @iAte will see your tweet. This is a way for your followers to opt-in to seeing what you eat. They simply follow @iAte to see what you and the other people they follow eat. If you want to make sure they see your eat without following @iAte, simply put @iAte at the end of your tweet instead of the beginning.
Don't forget to follow @iAte to see what your friends are eating. Let your followers know you're tweeting your eats to @iAte so they can follow @iAte to see them.
